Early Childhood Music

Developed by Emile Jacques Dalcroze 100 years ago

Dalcroze Eurhythmics is musical training comprising the basic elements of music: rhythm, dynamics, tone and form.  It is an introduction to music through fun, interactive activities including singing, movement and percussion playing.  It stimulates, develops and refines all the capacities  we use when we engage in music: hearing, sight and touch; knowing and reasoning; feeling and acting on our feelings.  It is a unique, exciting, powerful education in music for all ages and at all levels.

Dalcroze Eurhythmics has three branches, Eurhythmics, Solfege and Improvisation.  Eurhythmics trains the body in rhythm and dynamics; Solfege trains the ear, eye and voice in pitch, melody and harmony; Improvisation puts it all together according to the students' own invention in movement, with voice and at an instrument.  The course will help students develop kinesthetic senses, listening and social skills.  As a precursor to or in tandem with private music lessons, Dalcroze Eurhythmics will create a platform for accelerated and deep musical learning.

Music and Movement for Elders:

Eurhythmics for adults of any age is an enjoyable, healthy and stimulating experience that can improve mental clarity.  The course will focus on rhythmic movements to music, training in listening, focus, coordination, self-expression and improvisation.  It will help develop the kinesthetic senses and provide a fun, social setting as well.
